This elegant dark chocolate bar is made with organic cocoa, resting delicately on a layer of farm-direct Sicilian almonds of the renowned Pizzuta d’Avola variety. Fruity with hints of cherry and a marzipan-like finish, these almonds have the most delicate aromatic notes and no trace of bitterness.
Rarely exported, the Pizzuta d’Avola is a real local treasure. Not only it has unique beneficial properties (the nut is exceptionally rich in essential oils, as well as magnesium, potassium, calcium, fibres, iron, phosphorus and vitamins E and B2), but also an unusual and elegant shape, flat with pointy ends, making it ideal to bite into.
We source our almonds through a network of small local producers in Sicily, united in a project that guarantees the qualitative and ethical traceability of the entire supply chain. Determined to have organic and ethically produced almonds on their land, those growers launched an initiative aimed at guaranteeing that the seasonal harvesters on their farms were fairly remunerated. The idea was to apply the principles of fair trade (transparent, fair, and stable price) to the local agriculture. The result today is an ethical supply chain and a system of full traceability of the product, of which we are proud.
